Three Dogs

Chloe, Ally and Donna. Repeat. Chloe, Ally and Donna.

Not the best from the set of photos of our outing to the beach, is it repetitious or what? But for once here you see Donna trailing after the silky duo.

The interesting thing about observing dog behaviour, for me, is that they come in all shapes and sizes and that makes it challenging. It’s easy to read Donna’s moods by the elevation of her head, the curl of her long tail, her long face and jaws that is not hidden by her short hair. But when the tail is that short as the silky duo and given their unfamiliar fluffy form, I can’t assess very well at all.

  1. Having just begun to follow the pet tales here, I must ask, is the bigger of the dogs a shepherd husky??

Looks so very familiar as I have a just turned 1 shepherd husky who looks as familiar as the one in the photo!

    • Oh no, Pat. The last dog on the right (biggest) is a local mongrel. Her parents are local mongrels too, so she’s probably too mixed to identify any specific breed contributing to the mix.

      • Thanks for the answer. As I studied the image more and poked around on your sight, I realized that it was the black/white image that made me think she was of shepherd/husky mix. At any rate, all of your dogs look delightful. :)

        • Thank you :) We only have one dog – the mongrel – the smaller dogs and golden retriever belong to friends. As local mongrels sometimes have a not so positive image of being mean ol’ gaurd dogs and not apartment friendly, your comment means very much to me :) Have a good day!

  2. Monochrome really works well–looks like a dog parade.

  3. The dogs are adorable all lined up.

I agree with how it can be difficult to read dogs sometimes. It’s easier for me to “read” dogs that look like mine. If they have exaggerated features, it makes it harder.

    • Guess we all get used to a certain look and become better at reading that versus other dogs huh :) have a great day :)

  4. She looks so sweet alongside the little dogs.

    • Hahaha you got it the other way around Bodhi! The little dogs are sweet. She looks like a big baffalo next to them :D Hee-hee…

  5. I really like this picture… I think it says so much about the three :)

    • Now that you said it, I wonder what they are saying to themselves… I imagine Ally looks like she is bagging Chloe about something and Donna is just laughing from behind them :P

      • Ariane

I can totally imagine that going in their heads! It was so funny I laughed in the office! LOL

        • I just realised I wrote “bagging” instead of “nagging” D: You have to tell me what they said in their heads the next time we meet!

  6. I agree-it looks like a small dog parade-great photo and the dogs look to be having a wonderful time!

    • They had a blast! Probably wondering why they can’t go to the beach everyday :P Have a great day today/tomorrow :)

  7. Another great picture!

  8. Cool series! Like the idea of suspense!
