The other day I was remarking to Mr P that the only “sporting” event I watch somewhat consistently has got to be Freestyle Heelwork to Music or what I like to call simply dog dancing.
Little P’s entrance into our lives meant that I had to miss the livestream. We try to keep a screenfree environment for our toddler (as much as possible anyway) so the television has literally become a piece of background decor ever since he was born. Thankfully, Crufts has made available replays of the competition so I could still catch that when Little P is in kindergarten in the mornings. :)
I’ve always ordered dog-friendly mooncakes for Donna in the past. But I have long wanted to try to DIY and make pet-safe mooncakes for my dog. But what with one thing and another across the months and years, the mooncake mould ended up being stashed in the back of the drawer for the longest time. Oops!
So finally I took it out to make some super fuss-free homemade mooncakes for Donna. Erm, of course fuss-free also means it’s not as erm… professional as the dog bakeries out there so I’m just glad Donna doesn’t have much standards when it comes to food. HAHAHAHA!
We adopted Donna 12 January 2013, so I usually try to give her a little celebration around that day. This year we decided to send her to dog daycare so she can have a day of fun with her friends.
😴 I don’t ever wanna get off my comfy human bed in this car, he says. 😴
I’m just so amused by all his different sleeping poses on the lap, below the table, on the table, all while we had lunch at The Workbench Bistro. You can find this Japanese Spitz dog @somewhitecookie. ;)
According to the Internet, Japanese spitz dogs weigh an average of 5-10kg. Not too heavy to put on the lap for a hug. It was like hugging a soft, fluffy wool rug, but rounder, warmer and nicer. HAHA! :P
Updated 9 March 2018 – Crufts is here again! If Crufts is unfamiliar to you, it is the world’s largest dog show, held annually in March in the UK.
Instagram Stories snippets of various dog dancing routines at Crufts 2017. Find me on instagram @weliveinaflat :P
There’s dog agility, flyball competitions and of course, my favourite part of the show – Freestyle Heelwork to Music – or dog dancing, at least that’s just how I describe it to people. :P But, nothing beats seeing it. So here are the winners!!
All videos shared are from Crufts Youtube channel here. I don’t own the rights to them, but I just wanted to share my interest in it with you.

And Japan’s Lucie Plevova and her dog Power Jump Aibara came in first at the International Freestyle Heelwork To Music Competition at Crufts 2018. They were also last year’s champion. Here is their performance video.
Update: As you may have seen from various new sources, results from the investigation of a panicky dog being pushed into churning water on the film set of “A Dog’s Purpose” are out.
An independent animal-cruelty expert found that preventative safety measures were in place to protect the dog, Hercules, American Humane said…
“The decisions by the individual or individuals who captured and deliberately edited the footage, and then waited longer than 15 months to release the manipulated video only days before the movie’s premiere, raise serious questions about their motives and ethics,” American Humane said Friday.
The video was deliberately edited for the purpose of misleading the public and stoking outrage. In fact, the two scenes shown in the edited video were filmed at different times,” the group said in reporting the findings.

Taking a step back from the motives and ethics of the the people who released the video, am I less horrified now that I learn that preventative safety measures were in place?
If your dog is restless when it looks like rain, starts to salivate and tremble, has uncontrolled bowel movement during thunderstorms, he or she may have thunderstorm phobia.
Thunder phobia is not something that can be cured overnight. But these steps have helped to keep Donna stable and calm during thunderstorms when we are at home. So I hope it will help your dog too.
We were excited to attend Kanon’s 2nd Birthday Party because Donna loves to play with Kanon! :) Donna was also excited to meet all these other pups, some of whom she has met before, and some she hasn’t. Go check out the fun she had in the video!
