Looking out through the bars of the crate, what patterns does she see?
The dog was perhaps 8 metres away from me. She was stooped facing me, peeing with one leg lifted slightly off the ground. She was staring at me all the while, a glimmer in her eyes, a roguish smile. I looked on. She was done. And then she launched toward me. A hurricane of a dog barreling closer and closer. Closing in. 5 metres. 3 metres. Half metre away from me, she veered off to the right.
I seldom set up anything for the photos on this blog. Alot of it was: it is happening, quick get the camera/phone. So a lot of the photos were really candid, although some became an exercise in stay, stay, stay… because I am too slow and need her to hold on doing whatever she was doing. :P
Sometimes it works, most times it doesn’t because looking at the human to see if she will get a treat for staying became more important, or she looks away and stops doing whatever cute thing she did.
But I did have to jump some hoops for this shot. And so did Donna.
So we go for a walk. A walk is when you put one foot in front of the other continuously and that movement carries you away to some place else.
Lately, she has decided that a walk also requires you to stay in place for a long time. A loooonnng time. Donna decidedly enjoys just standing in one spot, sniffing the air, listening and observing passerbys.
Rooted in the same spot, observing the world go by.
This is the cute, happy face you see if you are walking towards us.
LAST WEEK’S ENTRIES: My Best Photo of the Week (MBPOTW) Challenge – WEEK 3 (4 – 11 Sep)

Bottom right: Touching Noses, www.weliveinaflat.com
Last week’s entries explored Colour and Contrast in different ways.
Completely Disappear and 1stworlddog both had three dominant colours in their pictures, with very different results. The Breath of Morning (pic 1) pushed light and shadow to the extreme, but allowed a hint of red to nicely warm up a moody picture of the morning. Paris in Colour Contrast (pic 2) went with rich contrasting colours that show up against the natural colours of a tired Paris, sleeping with her prize wrapped snugly around her. Glorious. Meanwhile, Touching Noses (pic 3) contrasted the dark form of two dogs against the light coloured sand, the emotion of vibrant colour is not present in this picture, compared to the other two pictures. It was the subjects themselves and their actions that was significant to me.
All personal favourites or important to the photographers because of the circumstances or thought behind them. You can read more about each picture by clicking on the links above and visiting the specific pages for the pictures :)
Note: Thundershirt kindly arranged with their local partner, Hound Habitat, to send to me a sample of the Thundershirt for trial after I wrote to them about Donna’s thunderstorm phobia.
Donna’s thunderstorm phobia seemed to have decreased in the last update.
But it wasn’t going to last.
