Here are the steps I took to turn this regular photo of a horse figurine, framed by my dog’s legs, into a stylized image comprising of gold outlines on a black background using a couple of photo apps. :)
The step-by-step guide follows:
The first app to use is Candy Camera by Korean photo app maker JP Brothers, Inc. Load up your photo and tap on the Film Effect icon (see screen 1 below). The strip of various film effects will appear at the bottom of the screen (see screen 2 below) for your selection. Tapping on the film effect Sobel-B will convert the photo to a black and white line image (as shown on screen 2)

In same ways, the result reminds me of the apple app, Tangled FX by Orange Qube, but it’s not exactly tangled. Haha!
Anyway, save the edited image from Candy Camera into the gallery to be ready to load in the second app we will use today – Cameran, directed by Japanese photographer and film director Mika Ninagawa. This app is easy to use as it simply offers to you a selection of 39 filters and artistic borders to apply to the photo in one click (or more if you can’t make out your mind which effect to use :P).
Screen 3 shows you the Gold filter being used. The x2 in the button for the filter in the strip below simply means that you have the choice of the gold with the gold sparkles below, or not. Screen 4 shows you a darker red filter called Neon 1.

Since I was in a festive mood, I went with the Gold filter. Saved and continued to make final tweaks on the gold image in Snapseed and the resulting photo.

Thank you!!!!! I have barely scratched the surface of what my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 can do. This will help me get a better feel for it. I’ve had it a year, but I’ve been busy with my iPhone and computers. Time to branch out!

I also didn’t touch my note 10.1 much until I lost my phone
:p

Very nice! It is also interesting to see what other photographers are doing and how they are doing it-thank you for sharing the process!

No problem, it helps me remember when I document it somewhere, haha! Glad you found it interesting. :)
