Morning Walk with Little P & Dog Treats From Abby The Mongrel

This post includes links to the following businesses that gifted Donna some pet products to try:

– Abby the Mongrel and Avaloncrafts

Morning walks with Little P

Little P started to join Donna on our morning walks when he was past 6.5 months old. Prior to this, he was happy enough getting some outdoor time on our balcony.

Little P’s Birth Story & Stretch Marks Products for Very Itchy Pregnancy Bellies

Since pregnancy and giving birth is a once or twice a lifetime thing, I decided my suffering and stretch marks warranted a post. HAHA.

I didn’t have morning sickness, I had heartburn and stretch marks

TV dramas seem to stereotype pregnancy morning sickness to vomiting and refusing some food. I didn’t vomit throughout my whole pregnancy but I had the most awful heartburn, also called acid reflux. I had it 24/7. Awful is too simple a word to describe it.

  • I felt that there was something stuck in my throat ALL the time
  • I had difficulty breathing when I wear a bra
  • I got breathless even when walking extremely slowly
  • I had to sleep sitting up

The stray dogs that Jam Hsiao adopted and Namewee rescued #adoptdontabandon

This Jam Hsiao video popped out in my Youtube recommendations so I just clicked in to take a look for fun. That’s when I realised, ” Hey, this guy lives with 6 dogs and 4 cats!”

Note: This post shares Chinese videos but english subtitles are available. Copyright belongs to the original channels from which these videos are embedded from. Pictures are my own.

New bowls for Donna’s Neater Feeder

Donna has been using her Neater Feeder for 4 years now (original review here or you can watch this video right below). The feeder kept the floor dry and served us well so I really didn’t see the need to change it. (Although a friend who bought a new bowl for Donna was rather disappointed that we didn’t use it to feed Donna. Oops!)

Anyway, the plastic body is really durable (plastic takes a 1000 years to decompose in landfills after all) so we’ll keep using it as long as it is in good condition. The stainless steel bowls on the other hand were not faring so well. So I definitely wanted them changed.

Now comes the problem.

Quartz Counter Top Shopping – iQuartz, Lian Hin or Caesarstone

We are getting a quartz counter top for our kitchen. That’s what I decided after reading generic comparisons of counter top materials.

Dog counter surfing

Where did the counter top go????

Our original counter top was white solid surface – a totally bland and underwhelming material that stained easily and something that was never going to step foot in my kitchen again. Haha.

What’s new with Weliveinaflat – an update on life changes

We Live In A Flat blog started two months after we adopted Donna in January 2013, so about 6 years ago. Choosing a name for the blog wasn’t easy but I eventually settled on this clunky name of We Live In A Flat. 😅

There wasn’t Project Adore then, but dogs within a certain height and weight limit can get AVA-licensed and HDB-approved individually. It was just that there wasn’t as clear a process as now.

Therefore, We Live In A Flat started as an online documentation of what we were doing with Donna. How we were training and assimilating her into the dense flatted environment that most of us live in in Singapore. It was a precaution just in case some random neighbour complained, we would have all these online documentation as proof of Donna being a good dog. 😁 And also I thought it’s a good showcase of how a medium mongrel dog like her can thrive in a flat.

Nutram Grain-Free Dog Dry Food Review

Another kibble brand for our dog’s dry food rotation – Nutram!

Dog spelling Nutram

Donna can spell! LOL!!

It’s boring eating the same food all the time. Here at weliveinaflat, we believe in switching things up by rotating brands and rotating proteins! We saw an increase in Canadian dog food brands in the market in 2017. So I’m happy to check out a new dry food brand that launched early 2018. Let’s take a look at Nutram’s Total Grain-free food! This food has a 5 star rating on Dog Food Advisor.

Nutram - 100% Canadian-made in it's own world-class production facility. Natural, holistic recipes for optimum absorption. 20 optimum combinations to give your dog specific benefits like immunity boost or improved mobility.

Disclosure:  Nutram products shared in this post kindly provided by Polygen Asia for Donna to try. They’ve also recently brought in freeze-dried and dehydrated PURE Pet Food from the UK. You can find out more from their Facebook or Instagram.

Donna’s 1st stint as dog model with Good Dog People x Daniel Boey

In my few short years as a person with a dog, I’ve not come across a local collaboration between a pet retailer with the celebrity/fashion world yet. (Maybe I’m just ignorant :P) So the Good Dog People x Daniel Boey “Good Dogs & People” show was the first for me.

Even so, I didn’t volunteer Donna to be a runway model because I wasn’t going to be at the Pet Expo today (Saturday) since I already had a baby shower to go to.

And also because I couldn’t guarantee that Donna would enjoy such an experience. If you remember my previous post on enrichment experiences at the Pet Expo with your dog, I quoted that Enrichment is all about making your pet and your life enjoyable. This is definitely something I believe in.

Singapore Pet Expo – Four Enrichment Activities to Try Out!

The upcoming Singapore Pet Expo 2018 has some dog and art-related activities that can be enriching for you and your outgoing dog!

Our pet dogs are smart. There’s no denying it. That’s why staying at home all day, while the humans are at work can get boring for them. Enrichment activities are a great way to mentally challenge your dog and keep him busy and happy.

Enrichment is NOT about making it harder!
Enrichment IS about enjoying your pet’s joy!
Enrichment IS about making their life and yours more enjoyable!
– a thoughtful quote from Margaret Pender, Jan 18 post on Canine Enrichment facebook group admin

So let’s take a look at some of the activities that are in the Singapore Pet Expo program schedule!
