Phoneography Weekly: W Hotel Room

W hotel room. In this case, W for “Wonderful Room” it seems, as represented on their website.

A hotel room is unfulfilled, unless somebody stays in it! The view of yachts berthed at Sentosa Cove is not a view, until somebody looks at it. Here’s a set of photos taken in the “Wonderful Room” of W hotel.

W Hotel Room – “Wonderful Room” Views. That’s the Central Business District Skyline at the back, which is kind of surreal for a getaway, since technically one is trying to get away from home and the city. It’s the first time we’re staying at this hotel and visiting the environment hereabouts.

Another view from the window – Quayside isle houses a number of international restaurants under its undulating green roof, and of course gives diners the water view. Interesting place to take the dog for a walk and possibly have a meal. We encountered more dogs during our 1 day stay here than back at home, despite ample opportunities while taking Donna out for walks back home! W Hotel, itself, is not dog-friendly. :(

W Hotel Room toilet. That’s the size of the Note 10.1 LTE, kind of clumsy for taking pictures if you ask me. But that is what I have to work with for the moment.

January is turning out to be a hectic month because of events such as Mr P’s travels, the upcoming Chinese New Year (which requires lots of springcleaning!) and my birthday last week, hence the staycation. Very disruptive for blogging, but very good for taking a break!

W Hotel at Sentosa Cove has a sort of clubbing vibe to it. That could be refreshing or overdone, depending on perspective. The boutique hotel is situated near the exclusive part of Sentosa Island, just outside of sinfully expensive properties also called “integrated oceanfront marina residential communities/luxury enclave” that are cloistered together, guarded and not accessible to public. The aerial view here shows that venture deeper in and one may find the area looks pretty much like land reclaimed specifically to form ribbons of private property surrounded by water.

I am immediately curious about whether problems like soil erosion and rising ocean levels may have an impact on this area. I seem to excel in trying to find cans of worms to open. :P

  1. Great view and interesting back story for the area. I’m glad that you “open those cans of worms.” We must be more active and knowledgeable about our effects upon this planet. Happy Phoneography Challenge.

  2. So interesting. And nice pics from the room.

  3. I love the shot with the undulating green roof… what an interesting feature. That is one clumsy camera! ;) (I haven’t even tried using my Samsung tablet…)
