A review of Donna’s thunder phobia and how the ThunderShirt and other tools helped her

Donna has thunder phobia and one of the tools that we thought we would try with her was the ThunderShirt to manage her thunder phobia. I wrote to ThunderShirt, who so kindly arranged with their local distributor Hound Habitat to send me a sample of the shirt for trial.

Back to the storm brewing over our island over the last few weeks…

I just want to go to sleeeeeeppp….zzzz….

What is beauty?

I try to post once a day but yesterday’s interview at a doggie day care and meetup with puppies totally wiped me up. Playing catch up here since I am a little late :P

When Mr P and I met Donna for the first time, she looked like any other mongrel in the shelter. They were mostly brown, black or black and tan like Donna.

The look of a local mongrel. Donna is small for one.

She shook paws and took treats.

When we came out, Mr P’s comment was something to the effect of, “She’s not a looker, but guess she’s smart and trainable.”

How I converted this dull photo to high contrast black and white photo

Dull colours in the living room on a cloudy afternoon turned high key black and white image.

An image, no matter how well composed with expressive subjects can fall just that little bit short due to the dull light of that cloudy day, especially when taken indoors. But with the use of a few mobile photo apps, a little bit of time, the mood of this photo has lifted from drab and dull to spare but eye-catching.

Here’s how I did it on my iPhone for the colour to black and white conversion of the recent A third black, two thirds white post.

Playing fetch with a crafty dog

Sit, Wait, Run, Fetch, Tug
Is tough choice to fetch or tug
Donna wants do BOTH!

I made the mistake of holding my phone vertically while shooting this video —
You can see her visibly panting (tired and needing to drink) at the end of the video and getting enough of play.

My Best Photo of the Week (MBPOTW) Challenge – week 6

LAST WEEK’S ENTRIES: My Best Photo of the Week (MBPOTW) Challenge – WEEK 5 (18 – 25 Sep)

Pictures are cropped, please visit the original post (links below) to view the full pictures with the photographer’s original thoughts on them :)

It seems we all worked on something we were not too familiar with.

Completely Disappear practiced working on shutter speed while taking pictures on a moving vehicle. Bodhi the first world dog got his picture converted to black and white, rather than his usual colour shots of his beautiful coat. I was pretty much trying to apply the rule of thirds, and sometimes breaking it, when taking shots of Donna in a crate.

You can read more about each picture by clicking on the links above and visiting the specific pages that provide a little description of the pictures and why it is special for the authors :)
