Phoneography Monday Challenge: Macro
Apps used: Camera+, Snapseed, VSCOcam, Moldiv
I’m not sure whether these are caterpillars or not but they were flourishing in the garden downstairs. These might be the yellow spotted millipede. Normally, Donna and I just walk past them but the other day I thought I would try taking pictures.
It was then that I really started seeing them. And what I saw was greatly amusing.
Do I like you? No, not really.
I don’t mind if you clamber on.
Sorry, no room for a third party!
What selfish creeps…, muttered the lone crawler.

You did a terrific job of capturing these small creates. You made an excellent point that you really got to see them as you took their images. I think that they become less creepy and more interesting as I view them. I do not think that they are caterpillars. Nicely captured. Happy Phoneography Monday.

It’s too bad they are not caterpillars. Perhaps they are a type of millipede then… I have no idea :P Thank you and have a good week too!

There is a Website iNature. You may be able to find what they are on there.

I think it may be the yellow spotted millipede! – http://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/47737-Harpaphe-haydeniana

Yep, good job.

What fun! I like caterpillars but the many-legged things we mostly see are millipedes, which I detest and kill whenever possible! :-)

OH they may be the yellow-spotted millipede and not caterpillars after all. :P
Roxy the Traveling Dog
Whoa….weird critters. Are they harmless??
weliveinaflat
Apparently they have few predators because they release cyanide as a defense mechanism when touched.

They are gorgeous, and great pics too! We have an African Giant Millipede as a pet, named Julius! :)
weliveinaflat
Oh my, those are huge right? *Amazed*
scarlybobs
Yes he’s about 12 inches long I think! He’s a real sweetheart though :)
weliveinaflat
You are the sweetheart! XD
Kyla
It appears that they are harmless if left alone-no problem.
weliveinaflat
Yep!! That’s so. Some dogs may not leave bugs alone though. I know a chihuahua puppy that loves to hunt cockroaches!

I don’t know what they are but I’m sure they are tasty to somebody.
weliveinaflat
That somebody is not doing its job then… so many of them creeping around :P
