This week’s entries made me think of photographic format. It used to be you take photos in two ways – landscape and portrait. But with mobile phone photography and apps that publish in the square (1:1) format gaining popularity, the way we think about composition when we take the photos start to change as well.
Top row shows you the photos that are in landscape and square formats. The common theme among them being the strong form and structure of the subject. All very well captured in the shots by photographers from br4ceyourself, looneyatoms and completelydisappear.
Bottom row shows you the photos in portrait. Weliveinaflat, 1stworlddog and lingeringvisions playing with the concept of depth and distance in each of their photos. All unique in themselves.
2catsandacattledog went for yet a different format – the photobooth image. Very quirky, and a great way to remember the day one was born, I think. :)
Go ahead and click on the links above to see the full pictures in their actual scale. The photographers will have more detail what they did at the point of taking the picture and their thoughts about the photo. Thank you for sharing :)
Special note:
I will be out of the country from the 5th to 15th of December. I should have time for short posts so I am not cancelling the challenge. No worries. ;)
Given the happy holiday season, I would LOVE to send all of you who have participated in this challenge (week 1- week 14) before a picture postcard from Kyoto, Japan. Or if you prefer me to send it to your friend as a surprise, I can do that as well, haha!
So if you would like to receive something in your snail mailbox, send your (1) mailing address and (2) who to address it to, to weliveinaflat@gmail.com by Sunday!

Me too! For me, the challenge is a great way of discovering people and following their work across weeks/months, so that one starts to discern their particular style or preference for certain subjects. And it is not overwhelming because we have distilled it to the one image that they think is most representative for the week. :)

This is the address for the pingback? I’ll put it here, but I have a feeling that this isn’t going to work. I just have that funny feeling I get when there’s something wrong …
