These toys have abandonment issues

Donna the local mongrel doesn’t have any hunting dog genes in her, I think. She doesn’t carry sticks when we are out for a walk or run. But this black and tan pup is pretty cute, the way she runs to grab a toy in her mouth to welcome you when you come home, or when she is so happy she is going out.

Toys? What are toys? They can remain where she threw them.

And Donna gets to go out too? Hooray! And then she spits her rabbit onto Mr P’s boots conveniently, wriggles about in joy before settling into a sit for the collar to go over her head.

Yes, Mr P, you’ll find that rabbit still perched there when you come home tonight. That is, if she hasn’t got it back in her mouth to welcome you home. ;)

    Hi Y’all!

Too cute! My Human would prefer Donna’s quiet way to my noisy one…

    Y’all come by now,

We like to run a lap around the house when the people walk in, so they know we’re glad to see them!

    • How many of you are there running the lap? I’m sure if there are other dogs in the flat running laps, they all be crashing into each other! :P

      • I have an English Bull Terrier sister and a very loud Chihuahua brother (the people say he’s a “foster fail”, which must mean noisy). We like to make a race of it, to see who can do a couple of laps and get back to the person first. When we do a really good job they say, “You’re crazy!” and we all leap up in happiness :-)

  3. Very cute don’t want to loose those cool toys.

    • Yes, I imagine that could be a problem if Donna takes it out on a walk. Though I think it would look cute too. :P

  4. Delilah usually greets me with a toy in her mouth too, it’s so darn cute. How can one not smile? Thankfully they do not carry things in their mouths when we walk though. I’m not sure how I’d cope with that.

Your new page looks great! I love it.

Thanks for joining the blog hop.

    • Thank you! I actually think it would look real cute if she carries a toy in her mouth on walks… but I guess it will be inconvenient when she chucks it outside so she can sniff the dirt. Hmmm….

  5. Kaci is never without a toy in her mouth.

  6. Thanks for joining Barks and Bytes. You never know, she might have hunting dawg in her. :) The new home page looks great.

Our new puppy came with toys. The other two don’t know what to make of it. Love your photos!

  8. No toys on walks here either but your toys are much cuter than ours. Sadly, we cannot have cute stuffed animals. Our stuffed toys don’t experience abandonment issues but shredding into little pieces issues so we don’t even try anymore. Enjoyed the post :)

    • The toys are really inexpensive, we bought them at $1 each on craigslist! But yes I can understand shredding. :P

  9. I love when dogs get so excited that they have to grab something and chomp down. Looks like those plush toys still have plenty of stuffing/life in them which is good. Ours don’t last long.

    • I can never understand the need to grab something and chomp down because of over-excited. I sometimes wonder if it is to keep from barking in joy, but I must be projecting my thoughts on her. Who know why they do it, but it is adorable for sure. She only gets excited about the toy when she plays tug or fetch, otherwise she leaves them alone so the only time the toys come in for emergency ER is when they get a seam ripped from the tugging. I kept wishing for her to play with her toys early on, rather than not playing with them and keeping all that energy pent up!

  10. Haha–love it! Especially Donna’s aim when putting Rabbit down :D Rabbit is, by the way, a lucky bunny. At our place he wouldn’t make it through the first morning. Mine–especially three of them–seem to have been allocated all the hunting / murderous instinct Donna’s doing without. You know those long-necked rubber chickens that squeak? I was so excited about that one. Tough plastic and all. Lasted all of one hour. Floss toys with knots (lots of knots) are the only ones that stay around long enough for the pack to develop attachments to :)

    Fabulous photos!
