Sengkang Riverside Park with Donna!

Sengkang Riverside Park appears to be a relatively boring and featureless place at first glance. Here are the key features and what you can expect to see in the park. ;)

The Key Features of Seng Kang Riverside Park

It is a fairly large park yes, but there seemed nothing interesting to look at but the rolling fields of grass.

The big grass fields of Sengkang Riverside Park are perfect for zoomies, frisbee, kiteflying, etc.

The big open space here also means one thing – you get a large expense of unobstructed sky. Which makes me wonder what sort of colours I will see if I visit during sunrise and sunset.

Donna tracks a man flying a kite as he walked past behind me.

The third distinct feature, which allowed my Instagram followers to quickly guess our location were the tall plants, like giant bunches of grass, that surround the pond in the park like a green wall.

From Sengkang Riverside Park, you can walk to Punggol Reservoir where you can find Sengkang’s floating wetlands. The boardwalk has an area comprising benches designed to look like fruit, and may be good for photos.

Featuring a constructed wetland and rich biodiversity, it is a favourite of nature lovers.

Visitors can hike on the park’s many trails to view the manually planted marshes and get close to the inhabitants of the marshland. Home to many aquatic plants, the constructed wetland doubles up as a wildlife habitat and attracts a variety of mangrove birds and damselflies. – nparks.gov.sg

We saved this section to explore the next time we visit again.

Food at Sengkang Riverside Park

The park is also home to Mushroom Cafe. It doesn’t allow dogs in its premises so we had to order takeaway inside. The food is average but affordable.

Sengkang Riverside Park wouldn’t be top in my list of interesting parks to visit in Singapore. But it can make a good diversion from monotony, if you are tired of exploring the same daily route and are looking to explore.

Watch out for ants though!

Donna certainly had fun sniffing the grass and each and every lamp post in this park.

  1. We’re in the desert. Fields of grass are fields of astroturf. The big sky and sunrises and sunsets are super.
