Donna and the cuddly panda

Mr P had to travel for work in the last week of July. This is a picture he took at the Chengu Shuangliu International Airport, China, with his Samsung Galaxy S2 smartphone, so please pardon the blurry graininess of the image. :P

A few years back, we bought a souvenir cuddly toy from Ocean Park when we were in Hong Kong. The beanie-stuffed Panda was in its plastic packing and in storage for a number of years before we finally moved into our new flat and were able to take it out of storage.

The memento from Hong Kong

We left it untouched on the TV console for a number of months, since we had a black and white theme going on there.

One day, we returned home to find it shredded on the floor. Yes, after months of remaining unmolested by the dog, the panda finally succumbed to a set of itchy canine teeth.

Panda was of course consigned to the trash. For the next few days, Donna pooped beanie pallets. It took more than a couple of days for her to be done pooping the pallets out, but otherwise she was her usual recalcitrant self.

After panda, she had a party swinging Dino by the neck in a kill shake and in general having a good time pummelling her own face with those fat stuffed legs. – –

Since then we’ve learnt to keep stuffed toys (not for dogs but which Donna may mistake as toys she can play with) entombed in shelves and cupboards in rooms out of bounds to the dog.

More about picking cuddly toys for dogs here.

  1. Panda was a cutie. Years ago my daughter’s Care Bear lost it’s heart-shaped nose to our dog Rocky.

  2. Hahawooowooooo Beanie pellet poop! Silly Donna! Woooooowoooooo!

  3. Poor panda! LOL over the beanie pellet poop! :D I have to keep my stuffed toys out of reach too. It is understandable that the dogs don’t know the difference between my stuffed toys and their own stuffed toys.

    • Indeed. I hope she at least pooped all of it out, versus having some of the beanie pallets stuck inside her. But I can’t tell. :P And I suppose what we don;t know, can’t hurt. For now at least :P

  4. Hi! I left you a blog challenge, and I hope you’ll check it out :)

  5. Gorgeous photo’s as usual Mrs. P. Panda was a cutie for sure and it seems Donna doesn’t want any competition there. LOL! Great post! :D *hugs*

  6. Ruby loves grooming soft toys. occasionally she attaks them (like with angry bird) but generally she is gentle. It’s plastic squeeky toys she bites to pieces!

  7. At least it was only a toy and not your couch…lol. But Panda was cute. Too bad about its early demise.

    • You’re right, at least she had the good sense not to touch the couch. There is always a time for things to go I guess. Is couch chewing a natural phase that all puppies go through? We skipped the destructive phase by opting to adopt an adult, rather than a puppy.
