Think she is being good?

this photo shows a dog sitting by the roadside at a road crossing. People in the background remarked that it is a good dog.this photo shows the same dog sitting by the roadside at a road crossing. A speech bubble from it says did you hear that? They said I'm a good dog.
this photo shows that the dog saw something in the distance. this photo shows the dog asking if they can move forward towards what the dog is looking at
this photo shows the dog remaining sitting in the same spot as the human refused to move forward with it. dog doesn't want to go in the opposite direction desired by the owner.this photo shows the dog stretching its head forward as it strains to observe the object of interest in the distance

Is she a good dog sitting by the roadside? Well actually, this is Donna sitting her ground during a walk at night and refusing to go home. She shows this kind of behaviour sometimes, and she will literally lie down and stick to the ground when she really, really doesn’t want to budge. That’s our Donna :P

  1. What a stubborn pooch!

  2. Donna, sometimes I went I want to walk further or want to go in a different direction than Mama I just lie down on the sidewalk! :-) You wouldn’t know we get 3-6 miles a day! Wooooooowoooooo, Ku

    • Oh man, Donna and Ku are great minds that think alike. That is exactly like Donna, except that Donna sits or lies down bunched up like a frozen chicken on the path. You guys are funny creatures! :P But I imagine it’s harder to move Ku than Donna :P Ku is so much bigger and stronger!

  3. Oh no! I had a family dog that would suddenly decide to not get in or out of cars. 80 lbs. of Black Lab with four legs spread and braced around the sides of the door frame. There was no way to move her. :(
    Lisa

    • omg, that’s more than twice Donna’s weight! I don’t know how I would move her either Lisa! Limits the options for outings too ): After Donna realised car rides mean going some place fun and not going back to the shelter to be returned, she wants to get on the car straight away. I hope it got better for your lab!

  4. LOL! She has no problem expressing her desires, does she?

    • Oh yes, and the human helps to expand on her desires… probably inaccurately and in an over-exaggerated fashion :P But there are also times, she is quiet and lethargic and I started to worry if there is something wrong and yet I don’t know what. – – Oh well, hopefully I get better at reading her as time passes. Have a good day :)

  5. Every dog has their own language :)

    • Haha, starting to sound like quite the common language among some dogs from the other comments ;) it’s cool. Have a great day Jo :)

  6. They sll do it once in a while. This morning Shadow was determined to bring home a dirty old baseball.

    • I sometimes wish Donna has more … shall I say character? She has never done anything of the sort like wanting to bring anything home or having any sort of attachment to her toys or bones for very long. But then she is a very sweet and fussfree (until it rains) dog, so I really should just be happy and let her develop as she likes. Glad Shadow gives you some entertainment once in a while :P

  7. Naughty but still so cute! How does she do it?!

    • Hello Nutty, Nacho, Buddy and Basil,
you guys sound yummy! (except for Buddy :P) Guess she’s just being her doggy self. ;)

  8. ha ha – Ruby does this too – sits and turns away from us when she doesn’t want to keep walking or has found something more interesting than us. They are funny things :)

    • They are indeed, amusing when we have all the time in the world but exasperating when we need to run for an appointment or go home to toilet, hahaha! Have a great day my dear :)

      • Thanks you too – have just been out and spent $350 on food, drugs and a new collar/lead for Ruby so about to go out now and try the lead out. A belated b’day pressie for her :)

        • I remember you started your blog and that helped you like her better, $350 at one shot is a lot of lurve :P but I imagine I know how it can all rack up! Can’t wait to see the new collar and lead! I so wanna get a new one but other things take priority ): Ours still working dandy.

          • Fortunately some of it eg. flea/worm/tick treatment I can get back on pet insurance (which is very big here). New collar and lead are black but this afternoon two people thought she was a male dog – I think because she’s in black not her usual red. Anyway – lead has a spring in it which helps when she pulls…

          • Nobody has pet insurance over here I think, except for people with earmarked breeds that need to get insurance by law in case the dog hurts somebody – – … it’s amazing how people always leap to conclusion about a dog… even Donna gets mistaken for a male dog most times… and our leash is pink with hearts on it! :D I don;t know why but hearing the leash has a spring, makes me have this cartoon image in my mind of Ruby springing back every time she pulls :P Cartoon!

          • Yes definitely a cartoon image!!

  9. LOL! That looks so familiar! :D

    • Lemme guess, Simba does it too! :P

      • Yep! Especially when we went for a walk and he doesn’t want to go back home. Then he pull those ‘anime eyes’ look on me. hehehehe

        • At least Simba bothers with the anime eyes, Donna just goes – if we are going to turn around and go back where we came from I’d rather sit here and stare at where I want to go next. Even sitting and staring makes her happy lol.

  10. Strangely I don’t think I’ve ever sat and refused to move…. Hmmm might have to try that.
Usually it is I want to go one direction (good smell) and mum wants to go another.

  11. LOL she must love her walks. :)
