Donna takes her own sweet time

Last week in the comments on Donna and husky videos, Lindsay from ThatMutt.com said: “The videos made me smile :) She’s fast!”

Yah, when our local mongrel dog wants to be. Her normal walking speed is…

This: Old lady walking speed

OK, I said walk, not stop.

Dog Socialisation 1 – What do you think of when you hear the word “socialisation”?

Socialisation.

That is a big word, isn’t it? And one that is not particularly intuitive either.

Just a couple of weeks ago, we took Donna for an audition a temperament assessment with a Dog Daycare Center. Before that, the owner had asked me over email, “what breed is your dog”. And when I replied mongrel, I was asked – Is your dog socialised?”

To say I got my hackles up was an understatement. I got the underlying implication that mongrels are likely to be trouble-makers, and further conversation with the owner of the daycare center confirmed the truth of my suspicions. The owner said that the few times they had a mongrel, it had caused them problems.

Do we look like problems to you?

Miss Harper Lee and I play 20 facts

Miss Harper Lee in her favourite scarf perhaps.  I keep seeing her in it.
Picture “borrowed” :P from Miss Harper Lee’s Instagram, edited by me.

Miss Harper Lee, who looks very safari here, tagged me to post 20 things about myself on Instagram, but 20 things is a little too long for IG, so this is my reply here:

Phoneography weekly: Creepy Crawlies

Phoneography Monday Challenge: Macro
Apps used: Camera+, Snapseed, VSCOcam, Moldiv

I’m not sure whether these are caterpillars or not but they were flourishing in the garden downstairs. These might be the yellow spotted millipede. Normally, Donna and I just walk past them but the other day I thought I would try taking pictures.

It was then that I really started seeing them. And what I saw was greatly amusing.

Movember 2013

Look at me!!! Look at me!! I can haz moustache too! XD

Photos of what we do during our dog walks in general

When we first decided to get a pet, we debated about whether we should get a cat or a dog. Mr P suggested a cat several times because, by all accounts cats are more independent and perhaps more suitable for two busy adults.

But I wanted a pet that will get me exercising regularly. It is a commitment I wanted to make. You can walk or run with a dog, but not with a cat. (It was later that I found out some people do walk their cats on a harness :P)

So we adopted Donna. Dog walking became an everyday item on the day’s to-do list.

How many different pictures can one take of the same dog walking every day? More pictures than I would have thought.

Enjoy. Photos after the jump ;)

This is how we play: Donna and husky videos

Most of the photos of Donna and the husky were blur, the last time I took them. The next time we met the husky at the dog run, it was dusk, so I took videos instead.

They are not very good videos, but still it’s fun to look at them and see how Donna and the husky play. :P … at least for me that’s the case :P

Oh look, I can jump to the side and run in a circle.

Well, I can jump to the left, to the right and attempt to pounce on you.

Well, I’d rather you chase me than wrestle me.

I’m thirsty now.

Someone remarked before that Donna is defensive when playing. Do you think so? I’m not sure if that’s good or bad, if it were the case.
