Phoneography Weekly: Look straight ahead

Phoneography Monday Challenge: Black and White
Apps used: Camera+ (Ansel filter), Snapseed, Moldiv

Above| Chained together, these dividers become the layers that make up a discontinuous surface for the pigeons to perch on.

Below| Trying for something more abstract. I am pretending the spikes are citadels on an alien landscape. Must have been watching too many alien movies lately. :P

  1. Number one and two are my favorites–well done. I might have cropped up from the bottom more on the first one, so the pigeons are more evident. I like your experimentation with abstraction. The first wins me over. Happy Phoneography Monday.

    • The background was very distracting with the first image, so I cropped from the top to remove that.

I have at first thought that the pigeons are too busy by themselves to be much of a focal point, hence the choice to play up the dividers. I did like the details of them chained together and their vertical height.

I think I may just try cropping them at the bottom for week four, and perhaps see if there’s a better way of showing them up against the busy background. :)

  2. I like those. I like black and white photos because you focus more on the shapes.

  3. I like the top spike picture the best-nice composition-the black and white really works well here-good stuff!
